Choosing an effective therapist is like choosing a life partner - chemistry and trust are an essential combination in a successful therapeutic relationship. Got questions? I’ve got answers! I do my best to go above and beyond to validate my clients feelings and thoughts. Check out my answers below to some likely questions you might have coming into therapy.
WHAT MAKES YOU DIFFERENT?
I strive to be sex-positive, anti-racist, and affirming for people of all sexual and relationship orientations and gender identities. I use a collaborative approach with clients to encourage self-autonomy. I pride myself on my strong empathetic response in the therapeutic relationship while focusing on clients’ strengths. Each session we focus on what YOU want to focus on! I will be the first to tell you I do not know everything about anything and I practice humility to lead by example. I believe we are all perpetual students and can learn something new from every person we meet in our lifetime.
HOW LONG DOES EACH THERAPY SESSION TAKE?
Generally, therapy sessions last 50-55 minutes. Sometimes, your initial session may take longer as we discuss your past and some of your treatment goals.
WHAT INSURANCE DO YOU TAKE?
I take Blue Cross Blue Shield.
HOW MUCH DO YOU CHARGE PER THERAPY SESSION?
For both therapy and gender affirming referrals, you will need to check your health insurance for your copay and coverage, which you will pay through my billing company, Headway. For out of network sessions, each session is $175. You can pay by cash or credit/debit or HSA card via our secure Simple Practice program!
HOW CAN I GET A GENDER AFFIRMING REFERRAL LETTER?
Schedule a session with me and we will discuss your needs, desires, and your life. Generally, I will only need to see you for one session (about 55 minutes) before I can provide you with your letter within 48 hours of seeing you. I will provide letters for hormone replacement therapy as well as gender affirming surgeries. Your insurance may pay for our intake/appointment, or you can pay out of pocket at $175.
CAN I SEE YOU IN PERSON?
Absolutely! I am now with Mindful Collaboration in North Raleigh off Six Forks Rd. I also still have virtual appointments available.
